We take great pride and immense pleasure announcing successful completion of our tests for our indigenous windmill installation in Vijaydurg. With some fine tuning completed, the operation commenced since end of Sept 2023 in limited capacity.
This is an initiative dedicated to the memory of my father - Late Shri Vijaychandra Jambhekar. He was an enthusiast in farming experiments and a promoter of Organic farming - we are taking it a bit further.
One of major concerns expressed by my father was the increasing chemical usage in farming and it's adverse impact on flora & fauna in the surrounding. This lead to organic farming and also looking for greener energy.
The windmill is used to pump water from our open-well into an overhead tank through mechanical energy. The next phases will generate electricity and run a small workshop - all through mechanical energy drawn from the wind and avoiding storage through battery as much as possible.
Further to this initiative, our aim is to promote the usage of wind as renewable energy source, as it is amply available here in Konkan coastal region 24/7, all seasons of the year. We shall soon promote smaller design for domestic use for electricity generation, which will run on a much smaller area on your terrace, compared to the solar equivalent.
As part of our farm development, we are planting trees which will be beneficial for different birds and butterflies, make roosting easier for them. We do hope, soon in coming years, it will be common to see different birds and butterflies hovering over this place, making it their home!
